Capturing a wedding

My two friends got married last weekend, and I am greatly honored to be trusted to photograph their wedding!

It was no trivial responsibility, needless to say. I was so nervous in the final hour leading up to the ceremony that I seriously considered getting some oral diazepam from the hospital! The speed of the ceremony and the lighting on the day were all very challenging too for someone like me who was doing wedding photography for the first time!

But at the end of the day, when all is said and done, I had a lot of fun being part of the whole culture of uniting two persons, and having the opportunity to capture so much joy and spirit.

Here is a small selection of samples, taken with Canon EOS 40D, EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM and EF 50mm f/1.8, Speedlite 430EX with Lambency Light Diffuser, LOTS of stress, and even more God’s grace…

Tell me what you think.

The bride is really, really beautiful. Simple wedding gowns are full of win – always. I love the fifth and sixth shots.

    These are great shots !!

I know a senior lecturer at Vic who also happens to be an avid photographer. Check out his website. He does a lot of wedding photo shots and special events.

David is my friend’s flatmate. He is doing his PHD while lecturing International Business. Don’t compare yourself with him. He has been doing that for quite a while now. Plus he charges people for wedding photos.

thanks! i wish i could present them more “professionally” e.g. with a minimalistic dark grey background and some fancy fade-in and outs, but oh well ;p

Those are really really beautiful shots. I’m sure they’re really happy with them. I think they’re nicer than johnny x ching yen’s photos which i’ve seen. Your shots are very artistic, and very rare. Really good work and really praise the Lord. I know how it feels trying to get a good shot. So many things we can’t control. So easy to miss a crucial shot.

hey bro, thanks! yea, really by God’s grace that I could get some of the snaps, and that they turned out ok. The lighting was *very* difficult, but the Lambency Light Diffuser is marvelous, man, seriously! You need to try it.

Like everyone already mentioned above, i truly agreed. I love 1st, 5th and 7th shots. Very rare and artistic. Each of the pics are not beautilful, but inspiring =). Truly it’s not totally about the camera, it’s also about your skills, your mindset and heart.

Praise the Lord for giving you this talent =)
