Ramble: There were going to be two characters, but it was too much work for my schedule, so I had to scratch off the other one (-_-). I know the signs don’t make much geographical sense. If she’s not fashion-savvy enough, it’s totally my fault.

Here’s the non-colored version (which I think may actually even be better! urgh):

Ever consider making yr drawings into postcards and sell them for charity? I am sure you have a big client base out there.
K.L
hey, you’ve really piqued my interest there, seriously!
i’m not so sure about the big client base thing (especially when it involves money), haha, and there’ll be hoops of setting up the infrastructure for all of this, but we’ll see ;)
thanks for reading and commenting too, ke li.
You’re quick! Apparently you didn’t need to bang your head too many times to get this one done ;)
Great work! I love the idea and composition. I think having only the girl standing is perfect – because usually when you’re lost you’re also alone… Totally understand the frustration!
Grace @ Akl
hey grace, thanks for commenting! ( although i was looking forward to some negative critique from you so that i can improve, hehe! )
yea was banging my head because i wasn’t too satisfied with the character’s final “fashion-sense”… it’s a mismatch of all the different changing ideas i had (e.g. hairstyle, clothing) -_-
Ah, I totally agree with that other person! you should so put your drawings onto post cards! i like both the black and white version… they both look awesome! If only I hadn’t seen the draft then the picture would be more “wow” for me. Anyways it’s amazing and I love it :D
:P Grace
at least now you have a little more idea of how the process goes – not so straightforward as the final result might let you think ;p
thank you for commenting too!
I quite like both! The colorless one reminds me of storybook illustrations for some reason. :)
yeah, now that you mention it… the story of a girl lost in life.
Your illustrations are always subdued. I wonder why, but I like it. XD
you mean subdued in terms of colors or the themes, or both? if colors – it’s because i like pastel colors (and i’m color-blind so I have difficulty matching vivid colors); if themes – it’s because i’m a pessimist haha
i think i double posted. lol. subdued in both aspects. but more on the colors, i think. pastel colors are nice to look at. they’re soft and earthy to an extent.
Hey:
Cool drawing!
Have you been to all the cities you ‘ve listed on the destination boards or those just the ones you r really want visit one day? Just out of curious, I get the names of the cities, but what’s the number follows after?
Amy Li ^^
hey amy, thanks for commenting!
those numbers are supposed to be the distance (in my “research”, i realized that some signposts don’t have units in their distance, so it worked out well here!), and no, amongst the cities listed out there, i’ve only been to shanghai haha. there’s no real reason why it’s those cities and not the others, although i definitely wouldn’t mind visiting them!
Hey:
I was right, 不过我google他们的时候,数据和你的不符合,不确定你的出发点是malaysia 还是New Zealand, 不过都不太一样。可能google 不太accurate, Anyway, doesn’t matter there~ They are all sounds great to visit one day! Don’t worry, you ll get chance to visit^^!
加油!
Amy Li
yea, i just made those numbers up; that’s why i said the signs don’t make much geographical sense haha. the spot that the girl is standing on is not based on any real life location really
hi Joseph, sorry for the extremely late reply since the last comment in the other entry.=S doing great here!like the pics!especially the bare background, which gives a sense of being ‘in the middle of nowhere’.hehe.. wish i can draw as well too for the patients i take care of..it will sure brighten up their day!btw, im doing nursing, not med ^^”..
hey Esther – thanks for the comment! ya i remembered that you did nursing, not med, after replying to your last comment haha.
how were you thinking of drawing for the patients you take care of?? like making cards for them or something?
(and the lack background is totally because i can’t draw backgrounds. guess it worked out well here ;p )
oh i see!haha.hmm..doesnt necessary need to be sth complicated..jz simple drawings..its just wat you can do with a pen and a piece of paper really.. coz during my last placement at the older ppl home & hospital,i had the chance to help out the diversional therapist to ‘play’ balloons with the residents, which seems like the only thing they respond to.and i saw a few of them SMILE for the first time during my 3 weeks of placement!!i guess making cards would be too time-consuming for someone who’s not talented in art like me =p! so i guess,to be able to jz draw some nice pics would be something..nice..?hehe..n it’d sure work with children too!!=)
oops.its Esther by the way.=)
